AURORA CONSERVATION COUNCIL

RECEIVES MAYORAL PROCLAMATION

Just before the nature program at the Moebius Nature Center on Sunday, August 12th, Mayor Lynn McGill presented a framed proclamation to June Lucal, President of Aurora Conservation Council’s Moebius Nature Center which acknowledged and praised the role ACC/MNC has played in the City of Aurora since its founding in 1991. Members of ACC were instrumental in starting the recycling program, passing the $6.5 million levy to allow the city to purchase land for conservation and passive recreation, raising the money to renovate the current nature center and arranging for nature programs co-sponsored by Rotary of Aurora. The proclamation was warmly accepted and will be hung on the wall in the nature center.

Following the Mayor’s comments, Mrs. Lucal introduced Christine Craycroft, director of the Portage Parks District who gave a brief background on the bio-diesel “Living Earth Bus” which was brought for everyone to see. It was a former PARTA bus which was retrofitted for the parks district to take nature programs around the county. Several people from the parks district then presented a program about Aurora wildlife.
